Hey guys. I was wondering if it would be possible for me to make my own oto food/wafers, that way they get a better diet. I'm interested in a food which combines different veggies and algae.

Help?

thanks for the tips guys, I have to check it out. Would it be possible for me to purposefullly grow algae (seperate tank) and then scrape it off into the Oto tank for them to eat?

yes
set up a tank outside in full sunlight (and throw in some chicken bones as fertilizer if you dont mind the smell) or just put some dirt in

make sure to top it off daily

Why not just put some biggish stones in the outside algae tank? Then you could just transfer over an algae covered stone to the oto tank. And return it to the algae tank to regrow once they've eaten it clean.

thats what I was thinking about, or maybe using a flat piece of slate. Hmmm.... I'm going to start concocting a recipe tommorow...

^_^ i just set up a 40 gallon out side to grow algae for my otos ..going to see if i can grow enough to freeze for the winter.
