Adding a male blue ram and a female blue ram wont guarantee a pair 100% of the time. I added a young m/f pair together and the male literally harassed the female to death because she wanted nothing to do with him.

Well, they are both in a 40 gal with a ton of other fish, and a MUCH larger bolivian ram, so that may force them together.... at the very least, the female and male can avoid each other with ease.
