Hong Kong Loach

Well for one thing folks might not realize what your talking about from the title... they go by many common names. Some people dont even know they are a loach, often sold as a pleco. There is the occasional person on here that has em in a regular community tank though, but if I am going to do it I am going to try to setup a specialized tank for them. Thats the next project after my 240g is complete. They arent very common in fish stores around here, think I have only seen em in one. But there is a local guy selling some that he breeds, if anyone is interested check out http://brianstropicals.com/ohio_tropical_fish.html he has Sewellia lineolata. If you want to talk to alot of folks that have em though, check out the forums at loaches.com, there are many that keep river tanks.

I thankyou! is your spot in OH close to Fort Wayne, IN? im always down for a lfs roadtrip.

and the tank on its side isnt a bad idea:idea: lol.

I think ill try and buy a couple more and lower my water level so my HOB makes more turbulent water. Think that will be ok for my stock listed below?

How turbulent is tooo trubulent?

I got a great deal on a AC 50 and 70 for 10.00 each.

they are really nice. the 70 was too much for my 10g it was a tornado. but the 50 turned all the way down is a bit less? i love the venturi thing too. does that oxy the water better than a airstone? i have one in the tank already? take it out?

can too much oxygen(venturi and airstone) hurt anything? gass off too much of something- besides co2?

Thanks for helping me with my questions folks. thanks in advance again!:)

Too much oxygen and too much turbulence will not hurt this fish. Injecting CO2 is pretty useless especially when the water needs vigorous surface agitation to allow the fish to thrive. They live in rivers where currents are powerful hence their body structure.

i understand that. but not the cosmogirl avatar for a guy? the picture needs a caption." showin my guns"

but hillstream loaches. mine seems fine. roams around. kinda shy. well see how it goes. i might get a few more im not sure. wish it wasnt 28 degres here or id do the algae rock idea. sounds good for shrimp too.

I'd plan a specialist tank before adding more hillies.

ive already added the one to my 55g and hes doing fine thus far.

Many fish "appear" to be doing fine when first added to a tank. Lupin's suggestions are to ensure the "long term success" of a wild caught fish with very special requirements.

i understand. i lowered the water level a bit to increase surface agitation and o2. started using algae wafers at night.

tanks checks out fine on params

about a week now. still doin good- as well as i know. i cant talk to fish. if he is doin better or worse?
