That would probably be alright if you're doing CO2. Its pretty high light for a low-tech planted tank though.

Yeah, 1X36 should do it. For a 10gal, you could use Excel as a carbon source relatively cheap...if you needed to.

Many people like 6700K bulbs best, but either will work fine.
