Hood w/o light?

I need a hood that doesn't contain a light fixture on it, but I can't seem to find any.

I have a light strip already, and now all I need is the hood part (plastic, glass, any material) that will fit my 10 gallon. All the hoods with light fixtures are so expensive, that I want one with only the cover. Do stores sell such hoods w/o lighting fixtures? I see at some LFS they have simple glass covers that can open a at the quarter mark of the tank. Do you know where I can find those things?

Just buy a glass cover. You should be able to find that at Petco etc. They are about 14$.

Yep, most stores sell a tank cover. For something more attractive, you can always build one--not very hard, if you have access to tools.

I broke my old tank, and got the glass from that. A little cut here and there, and poff..perfect tank cover. I like glass the best because you can eaisly change your lighting, without needeing to change to hood. (Very important for a planted tank).

Thanks for the replies. I will check out the stores sometime. I couldn't find them online, so I thought the stores wouldn't have them.

AHsupply.com sells wooden hoods in several sizes. They're more for retrofitting light fixtures; not sure if that's what you're looking for.

I've seen glass lids at some petco's; can't really remember at petsmart.........
