Hop, Skip, Munch...

Your flying ants sound similiar to the cicadias that come out every 4-7 years. People around here fry them and eat them too. Not me, I'm vegan, but I suppose if we were back in the 'ol days, back before we had grocery stores and had to grow our own food, I probably would fry those suckers up:)

The fish are awesome, and the tank is beyond words, its so awesome, and cool that you made it and it looks so real. I loved the video, the music fit perfectly, and the job you did on it was great, love the burp at the end, ade me laugh. I have to say you have a talent. HOpe to see more pics soon.

wow! thank you! :)

New pics attached - enjoy! :)

very interesting thread !

and the set-up is prize-winning standard.

Thanks! You have convinced me to enter TOTM! :)

Almost a month gone by and time for some updated pics. The tank is idling along nicely and getting a healthy layer of algae growth all over the "rocks". I'm having trouble keeping some of the terrestrial plants alive so I've been trying a few different kinds to see what works - hit and miss, trial and error style! Not much else to say as theres been no straying parameters or mysterious deaths - Me and the skippers are mucho happy! :)

Heres Oswald chasing Lee off his rock (Lee is the brown blur in the water). Oswald's grown an inch (in length and girth!) in the last month since the greedy **** gets the lions share of the crickets and flying ants...

And Harvey...

Time for an update...

Sadly we lost Lee, Harvey and Oswald in the space of a couple of days late July. Not sure what happened - water quality was 100% stable. The only thing I can think of was that the small meal worms we fed them about 2 weeks prior had something to do with it since they lost their apetite from that point on...

I neglected the tank until I came across two adorable little juvenile skippers last weekend - they're still tiny and their antics are so funny to watch! :)

I need to work on the terrestrial plants but the attached photos show how nicely the moss and algae are growing...
