I've heard Hornwort is a good plant to have in the aquarium, I'd like to try this but anything will small leaves I put in my tank the fish destroy. What can I do about this?

Definitely good for fry and absorbing excess nutrients, but every tank I put it in it made a HUGE mess with all the little tiny leaves dying and falling off. So bad I pulled all of it back out, dried it out and threw it all away. :mad2:

Ive got some neons, danios, corys, a pleco, guppies, but its pretty much only the 2 mollies (primarily the dalmation) that pick at plants, however I put a hornwort in there 2 days ago and no picking yet. What would be a good recommendation for a liquid fertilizer to help the plants? I'm already using the plant food you place in the gravel.

Hornwort probably won't need the fertilizers, they're like weeds as soon as they establish themselves.

i had mine in a 30g and they took off like crazy, but as soon as i put it in my 55- Dead...

i took the little bit that is still alive and made sure it was right side up.

hopefully this will bring it back...

Thanks, sounds good.

At least my mollies aren't eating it like they have other plants.

Got a big bunch of Hornwort a couple of weeks back but was hesitant to put in any tanks until I found good places for it. Had it in a large vase in a window and it stayed pretty healthy. Finally started putting it in few tanks the last few days.

Strange stuff though, doesn't seem to have an up or down. I'm floating it in 1 tank for my Cherry shrimp fry, and I tried planting it in two other tanks.

Does anybody else plant it, or is everybody just floating it?
