I noticed some growth on a piece of driftwood of mine a few weeks back , it was just a little clump of what looked like a brown plant, almost like little brown hairs clumped together. suddenly it has spread to the entire tank and i dont know how to get rid of it. help plz someone!@

sounds like red or brush algae. how often do you do water changes? ammonia/nitrite/nitrate levels? all of those things are food for algae, and need to either not be present due to cycling (the first two) or be removed regularly with water changes (the nitrates).
take the driftwood out, let the algae dry, scrub it off with a stiff, clean(no chemicals on it!) brush to remove the dead algae. repeat with all your decorations. try to prevent it in the future.

Is hair or brush algae particularly fond of phosphates? My tap water is pretty high with it, so high I never need to fert with it for my plants (lots of them now). I've heard that feeding blood worms a lot increases the phosphates in the water, too.
