I have this setup on my 55gal tank. I have material that is floating in the water and making the water cloudy. It seems the HOT Magnum is not picking up these little particles. I currently have the basket with carbon in it and a sponge filter around the basket. I have tried the other paper filter insert, but it clogs up too quick! Does anyone have any suggestions to what I can do to help clean up these particles?

Some folks have had success packing the media container with filter floss (instead of carbon). It doesn't clog as quickly as the micron cartridge and the floss does a fine job of filtering. Adding a prefilter sponge (e.g., a PHAS sponge over the intake strainter) will also help.
