Hovering Cories

My cories have been acting slightly strange recently. I have a 16 Gallon lightly planted bow front. They normally hang out on the bottom and slurp up any leftovers, only jetting to the top once in a while gulping air (this is normal I hear). I moved about 4 months ago and after the move they kind of hid in a cave rarely coming out. Now all of a sudden they are out ALL the time. However they dont spend much time at the bottom of the tank. Sometimes they are at the surface blowing bubbles, but most of the time they just hover in the middle of the water column. There is no signs of stress on any of the fish in the tank, and water parameters are the same as they have been ever since I got the cories. Anyone else see cories acting like this?

PS: I have an air stone and a HOB Aquaclear filter so there should be plenty of oxygen dissolved.

My cories do this all the time too. Nothing to worry about actually :)

I was also alarmed once because I saw one of my cories swimming sideways on the water surface along the walls of the tank. My worrying stopped when I realized that it was just probably looking for food because it eats crushed pellets in that manner come feeding time. They also love swimming against the current generated by the powerhead.

What cories do you have? I have 4 bronze cories. :grinyes:

Mine actually hang verticle by the glass as well blowing bubbles and looking for food. Funny to watch them try to get food from the surface with their downward facing mouths! I have 2 Peppered cories I believe.

Good to hear that others' cories are acting the same way. I was worried for a bit.
