That is not weird at all...I've seen them do this before. They must really feel comfortable in your aquarium.

lol mine do too, i have two of them, and they enjoy swimming to the top of the leaf and they slide down. and swim back up. and slide down.

They'll only get around 2" or 3", and will do fine with cories. They're awesome fish, go for it.
