My husban has been complaning that i'm taking my fish way to seriously!! I dont think its such a bad thing to want to learn more and give the best possable home I can. Do any of you have spouses dissing your hobby? :argue:

My wife says the same thing. But I enjoy learning about the species I have. If it was up to me I would have more tanks. I just got a 20 gallon from a tag sale for $5 filter, and hood. She now understands that it gives me something to do ,an that I leanr from it. I hope to someday have my daughter who is two get into it. She "helps" me whenever I feed them or clean the tanks.

I've got the same size tank as a reef, and have found that it's better that you don't keep track of how much you have spent, so it doesn't seem so insane to be spending that kind of money on an aquarium.
Personally, I'm glad I've got someone to limit the number of tanks I have, otherwise, I would be spending the majority of my sunday or saturday changing water...

If it makes you feel more frugal and responsible I am in the thousands for one tank and I have freshwater still! Of course my 210 gallon tank is AWESOME! LOL :clap:

My husband says exactly the same thing. I love to learn about new things then am a perfectionist, so I probably am too serious. I am still having a hard time convincing him I really do need to do all those water changes He loves the fish but doesn't believe it is really this much work to get tanks going.

When I hear of arguments over fish tanks I usually wonder if the friction is a symptom of a completely different problem. My wife isn't into fish, but she knows that I am and it makes me happy. That's good enough for her because she wants me to be happy.

My girlfriend admonishes me on occassion for the amount of money I spend on my fish not because its money spent on fish but because its money spent at all. She's a saver and I'm a spender (with a decent savings). I think that is the inherent conflict unless its a spouse/girlfriend who wants the money spent on her instead. Pick any hobby and you wind up spending a lot of money: good golf clubs are hundreds of dollars and greens fees are 30 per weekend, instruments are way expensive, video games and movies just as much. I think the important part is that you spend what you are able to and nothing more. Plan it out.
