I just got home and went to get my new 30g that will become my sump out of my wifes car and apparently it slid around a bit in the trunk:wall:. It has two cracks near the top....see pic. Since I am going to use it as my sump, and I don't really care how it looks, is this possible to fix? I was thinking of a piece of glass siliconed or superglued or something to the inside (like a 3" square"). Will this work or is there an approved patching method? Please don't tell me I'm out $60!
Thanks!!!

Unfortunately it happened after it left the store.:( I remember looking at them in the store and they were fine.
Thanks!

It is local LFS that has been pretty good to me....I don't think I would feel right trying to return it to them. I'm about 99.9% positive that it happened on the way home.
Soooo....is it patchable?
Thanks!

the problem is, I don't know how much I would trust it being that the crack is all the way through the glass and in the corner or rather, so close to the corner... might seem small but... I wouldn't trust it...

oops, just want to add that I would guess it is patchable but the integrity is in question now... I am not sure if silicone or glue would replace the true construction of the tank.

Your tank is only as strong as its weakest corner. I think you might have a problem with that joint being weakened, and I wouldn't risk having a 30g rupture all over my house.

I would bring the tank back to the lfs and tell them you think it happened on the way home. See what they say - they may just offer you a new one for free and send this one out for repairs.

My snake's cage cracked on the way home from picking it up. I contacted the store and told them it happened in the car and they said they would replace it for free, no problem.
