How can i get the ammonia down Please Help

Wow everyone is so helpful here. I am going to keep with the water changes and tested my tap water and bottled water and came up with 0 ammonia. hopefully tonight when I get home it will have changed some more. I will say the water is no longer cloudy at all it has become very clear. And the filter is for 30 gal not a 20gal so that is good to

One more thing, resist the urge to use any form of chemical/commercial Ammonia control, ie. Zeolite, AmmoLok etc. Just do those changes.:)

so, using an ammonia detoxifier like Prime, is going to hurt how?

Never said it would hurt. I did, however, state "In my opinion" there is no better way to control Ammonia levels than by doing WCs. I've had seemingly never ending struggles with products like AmmoLok and Zeolite, thinking I was doing the right thing by pouring these chemicals* into my tank whilst trying to cycle, before finally getting it into my thick head that I was wasting my time and money. Now, at the first sign of distress in my fish (during cycling), it's out with the bucket, the water is dropped by about 25-30%, refilled and everything is fine. I repeat the process the next day. Then the day after, etc.

*I know Zeolite is not a chemical...

yes.. waterchanges help... but Prime will detoxify that ammonia so NONE of it is adversely affecting your fish, while leaving it available for the bacteria to use..... i don't see the waste in that.

Well, in all honesty, I have not used Prime, so cannot vouch for it's properties. I think, possibly, my bad experiences with the abovementioned products have meant that I've steered clear of anything purporting to control Ammonia.

If Prime does actually achieve what all those other products claim to, but (IMO) don't, then maybe I should give it a go, also...

genghis, i would highly recommend it.. prime is almost liquid gold in this hobby, and because of the low dosing, is very cost effective.
