A little background so you know where I'm coming from... 2 months ago, I got back into Aquaria due to inheriting a tank with bigger dreams already forming. Just about everyone I talk to lately, I eventually get around to these fish (whatever I'm into at a particular point in life, I'm ALL about it). I'd say while my girlfriend likes fish, she probably wouldn't own her own.

Her and I go out to eat last night and while I'm mentioning my temp problem thing (another post) midway through dinner, she says "Let's go to Petco after this! I wanna look at the fish". Heart stops. She doesn't know that I've been going to Petco or Petsmart like every other day already, so it was like heaven opening up above our table. I'm like "Heck yeah let's go"! So random, but it was one of those random things you wish someone would say or do, and then they actually do it without hint. Anyway, long story short... we looked over the whole fish department... I even showed her the food aisle just cuz I think its AWESOME! We looked at NEW TANKS and she kept pointing to a 45 and 55 gallon tank (they were the biggest ones they had out). Basically, I think I have my gf on board for some future aquarium plans. She just kept saying she didn't like the standard rectangular design. I had pointed out a 45 gallon square tank and told her how I envisioned it in an apartment ;p

I wonder what she would have said if they had a 100 gallon tank to look at?

Very cool. :D Good luck! My husband didn't "get" the fish thing for a while, but he's pretty on board now.

The funny thing is I got some albino cories from a member on here. They came during the day when I wasn't home, so my husband acclimated them and got them in the tank. Apparently he bonded with them. They're his favorite fish.

Hex tanks are cool, too. They limit the stocking a little, but take up less space are are more fun to look at.

that's awesome! my ex is my ex for the reason that he didn't share my passion for being a fishkeeper, lol.

You want to see a neat tank design, check out the large wave-front aquariums. I don't know how practical they are but it is a very cool design. I especially like the added depth (front to back) on one end of the tank. Perhaps someday I'll buy one and give it a go.

my neighbor has a wave front... 55g I think. has a breeding pair of convicts in it. it's beautiful! lol. I love the design.

My husband loves the tanks and the fish but doesn't know how to care for them.

All he knows how to do is overfeed when I'm not home.
