How did you meet your spouse?

Met mine during my freshmen year of high school. We were both in band. We were going to a competition in New York and he asked to sit next to me on the bus. Been inseparable since. We've been married a month and a half but have been together over six years.

Aww, such nice stories!! Mine is kind of funny... My husband was friends with my brother all through high school (half brother though, so we didn't live together), and therefore was always close with my dad too. My dad was the kind of guy who was the "friend" to all the kids. So my husband Jon would always tell my dad that he thought I was really cute (even though I was 6 years younger, probably in junior high at the time  ) and that we were going to hook up some day. Sure enough, I stopped over at my dads one night with a friend (I was 19) and Jon was there, and a few months later we were living together!!! The first few weeks my dad would call me up and say "hey were at this bar, come and meet us, Jon wants you to come up here". I thought my dad was screwing with me (at the time, my husband already had a very good job, a degree, his own house, etc. ) I thought why me??!? We've been married for a little over 2 years (together almost 6), our SON (!!!) is due December 6th :)

I met my wife through a (girl) friend I was trying to hook up with. She brought her friend Jamie, my wife, to tag along. Was in high school at the time. Been together for about 11 years, have a 4th kid on the way due in 4 weeks. This will be our 3rd boy, only 1 girl.

My wife thinks it's funny to tell the kids that we met because she tagged along with the girl I "really" wanted to be with.

"I got a job in Atlanta in a mall playing Santa
Not because of any talent but because I was the
Only one the suit would fit
Everybody shopping, little sticky kids were hopping
On my lap with their fingers in my beard
I guess they thought that I was really it
She sat down on my lap and said to me..."
(Alice Cooper)

Met my exwife when I was playing Santa for a bunch of kids. We've been separated for years but we're still friends. We have great kids and I regret nothing. When you have kids it's important to to make sure they are taken care of whether the relationship between the parents works or not.

Wups--guess I could tell the 'ex' story too. I met my now ex-husband while working as a waitress. His friend used to come in all the time (graveyard at IHOP), and had a very noticable Boston accent, so I teased him. Apparently he really liked me, so started coming more often, and dragging friends along--and somehow one of his friends ended up asking me on a date first.

Met my husband at a bar--he was friends with the guy my friend was hitting on. That didn't work out, but we became friends, then lived together, then got married. Coming up on one year.

I guess I have to stop telling my daughter she won't meet a good guy in a bar..

I think the difference is if you're looking for a good guy. I wasn't looking, neither was he. The people that go to the bar looking for a date tend to want a little shorter term relationship. Those of us that get brought along as company for the hunt can be decent enough. :)

that is true! I didn't EVER think that I was gonna marry this totally cute Norwegian guy! It just kinda happened!:D
