how do i do a low lighted planted

Basically just the diameter (T12 =1 1/2" ,t10 =1 1/4", t8 =1", and t5 = 5/8") and type of ballast used to light the bulbs. It depends on just what K rating is on the purple one, Hagen has a great little website to help you pick the right bulbs to cover the best spectrum possible depending on what kind of tank you have and how many bulbs you run.

If you go shoplight you can get one for under $25 at most places in 48" lengths, the bulbs will just depend on what you're looking for and how much you choose to spend. You can get anything from the generic tubes for $4 up to about $25 or so for an average bulb. Just remember that most shoplights now use T12 bulbs which are a little less efficient and can be a bit harder to come by from the top name bulb makers out there if you're shopping for a wide range of kelvin ratings.
