I want my frogs to mate. But what ways can i get them to want to mate?? also do they care if people or ghost shrimp are watching.

Soft Music, a little candle light......sorry !! I couldn't resist !! What kind of frogs do you have? I LOVE frogs...and have been wondering if they do ok in community tanks. ( I've seen frogs in fish shops that have no land, only water ) I would appreciate any advice!

Reproduction is tied to seasonal weather changes. You'll need to replicate the changes in your tank, and provide good, high protien foods. Not sure what that will mean--I would guess spring rain storms do the trick for most, as that's the norm for most species of amphibian.
REDZPONY- I have no idea about your lipsticked tetra types, but as for your catfish some other decription may help. Does he have barbells near his mouth? Whiskers? Suckermouth or one that opens up hinge like? What color and size is he? What is the behaviour of him? (or her, i dislike these politically incorrect dealings!) Is he nocturnal?
As for the ADFs beoing bred, I have never heard of it happening in captivity. Your best bet is like Oriongirl said and replicate the best you can the seasonal changes of the frogs natural habitat by lighting conditions and using some type of watering device to simulate rainfall. Of course...then there is the issue with sexing them correctly and even then they might not wish to mate.

not sure what kind of frogs you have. I know when I google "african dwarf frog" and "breed" if pops up a lot of stuff. There is a really good page I was looking for ...but then again I don't even know i fyou have the frog it has info on...happy sailing!

Ok...finally found out what those guys are, I called the guy I got them from......the Tetras I am told are Columbian tetras....and the 3 catfish, including the monster are supposed to be Porthole Catfish...they look very similiar to the pictures I found online for them..but the 2 small guys have an orange tint to them, and of course the big one is much larger than the maximum size....so I have no idea still! They have whiskers, very thick ones, more of a hinged mouth, very thick bodied too...I would really like to know for sure what they are! I'll try and post a picture of them tomorrow...
OG is right. It seems to be tied to seasonal changes (as with most creatures on earth) but just exactly what I haven't taken the time to look into. Although as soon as I get some free time I'd like to look into it more.

The humming goes on forever! Plus, I always feel bad for the girl since she essentially gets asphyxiated and flaps her little feet back and forth - trying to escape from the male's death grip. Of course, it's not really all that dramatic...but it seems that way

Of course, it's not really all that dramatic...but it seems that wayRAPE RAPE I TELL YA... my poor female.. after about 3 weeks with my frogs they have doubled in size and just 20 minutes ago I kept on hearing this weird noise... And now my male is trying to squeeze the hell out of the female... what happens next, have you had babies/tadpoles after the rape?
