I have little spots of green algae on the sides of my tank and it's all I can do to get it off, I mean....scrub til my arm falls off. Its rock hard and is really getting hard to keep off my tank.

I don't leave the lights on too much and its not by a window......what is it and how can I get rid of it?

Any suggestions??? :help:

That particular algae requires some sort of blade. I use a razor blade, but I hear that others have great success with something like a credit card or plastic ice scraper.

You'll kick yourself when you see how easy it comes off with a blade. I know I sure did after scrubbing forever with scrubby pads and magnetic algae scrubbers!

Relaxing hibby isn't it ? lol yup single edged razor baldes-Anne

Thanks a bunch.....I'll go giver er a whirl! :duh:

I use a small razor blade also.
You just have to be really careful not to get it too close to the silicone edges or it could leak.
I used a scratch pad thing once and it scratched my glass.

Are there any small algae eaters out there that will take care of this stuff. Its truly annoying.

Seems the favorite on this forum is the otocinclus - 'oto' ... they apparently clean algae as fast as it can grow.
