i used to have lots of hair algae, but my tang and blenny eat it all. they loved it, so i want to grow some more of it for them. i've been overfeeding my fish and corals, but still can't get to grow any, only some type of red algae that nobody likes. is there any plants that i can put in my tank for my fish to eat? i haven't seen plants anywhere around here, just corals. i do give them nori, but i don't think that nori has everything in it that fish needs.

bump, i need to know this too. I read that you get alge from alot of light and i wanted some alge on my rocks so i put some rocks in a clear container by my window hopeing for alge to grow on them. But no luck...

I'll send some of mine...

I guess best way would be to get a new piece of LR without coralline algae (keeps it from sprouting) and keep it in a separate tank with tap water (phosphates), light, iodine and nitrates... Then bring it into your tank at feeding... I have some of it growing in my tank without anyone to feed on it! Wish I could send it to you. I just "trim" it every once in a while and wait to see if my ever-improving parameters kill it off. It's not spreading anymore because of coraline algal growth and good water, but it's not dissapearing either!

i just got some spirulina for my tang. he likes it alot, but my blenny doesn't even want to try.

o.k. i have been overfeeding my corals and fish and my algae is back. my lawnblenny is happy and not hungry again.
