I believe that coral and ocean rock will only buffer your water and not actually raise your PH (unless your water PH is very low). It's there as a kind of safety net to stop it dropping too low. I have over 100kg of ocean rock in my tank and the PH is the same (7.6) as when I had normal inert rock.
Of course, I could be wrong.
