I recently ordered duckweed, and now all my tanks are taken over completely with it. I don't wanna toss it out, because I have to get it online if I want it, so would there be some way I could keep it alive in a rubber maid tub or something? How do I go about a rubbermaid tub setup (cheap, just for the duckweed purpose.) Would I have to put some kind of animal in there for the "fertilizer"(maybe some of my ramshorns?) and what kind of lighting? (again, cheap) and also Would I have to have a filter or bubbler for circulation? If so, which one, and all the other good stuff I need to know in case I left anything out....THANKS IN ADVANCE, GUYS!!!

just some sort of light and use old tank water for ferts,.. it likes still water,.. like outside ponds,... either sunlight from windoes or 67k bulbs will work,. and room temps,..
You could probably put some in a quart jar with a loose fitting lid, use old tank water, and leave it in a window sill.
Killing duckweed is a neat trick, if you can manage it. The reverse is more likely...it will drive you made in your efforts to eradicate it.

Ok! Thanks, guys!!!!! I'd put it outside in a rubbermaid tub if I could, but IDK how good it'll do when the temp outside gets down to 20,lol, or even now...Yeah, I got a small order from someone on here , then decided to get 1/2 lb from aquabid w/ other plants,(THAT WAS STUPID!) now it's becoming a PITA, but in case I screw it up, I wanted a place to keep the excess.....Good thing about the 1/2lb order is it is mixed w/ red root floaters(yay!)Now, just to seperate it...
that junk grows like a weed. Dry it out (so it doesnt reproduce in the wild) and then throw it out. The stuff you remove from the tank will spread and grow like, well...a weed.
O.k. I will. Will it still grow, say, if half the jar's full?lol or will it become a squashy jelly mess from lack of light?
don't keep extras... sell it (or give it away if you can

you will see... this idea is simply going to equate to effort keeping it alive... and twice the effort eradicating it where you don't want it. if you can manage to get rid of it where you don't want it, then i can understand keeping it somewhere else just to have it around (but if you do manage to rid it where it's not wanted please post your methods since ridding duckweed w/o starting over is one of the greatest mysteries in the planted tank community).
