Just bought a CO2 system.

Basically its a bottle filled with white granules. You add water and the small brown granules (I think yeast?) then attach the tube to the lid. this feed into the tank via an airstone.

It strike me that if I can get a hold of whatever the white granules are and the brown ones I can save money by doing this myself.

I was wondering if the bronw granules were yeast and the white was sugar (i.e. yeast food????

Can anyone help me out and clarify how do I make my own home made CO2???

Replies greatly appreciated!!!!! :help: :)

I use 2 cups of sugar for 2 liters of water....and 1/4 tsp of yeast.

So...............whats the opinions on the mix being:

1 litre of water
1 cup of sugar
1/4 teaspoon yeast?

And refresh the mix every 2-3 weeks??

Opinions please???

Too much sugar / not enough for that amount of water?

Too much yeast / not enough for that amount of water?

Sorry, only asking because the mix varies from document to document that I have read?

Thanks!
