How do I remove scratches from a plastic tank?

I recently bought a "Waterhome 3" plastic aquarium & already I can see very light scratches on the inside of the tank from where I used a soft toothbrush to clean algae.

Does anyone know how to get rid of these scratches? Should I have been using something else to clean the tank walls?
 
If the scratches are in the plastic, I don't think yu can do much about it, unfortunately. In my experience, plastic and acrylic tanks are quite similar in that you can scratch them easily, but you can't do anything about it after.

I hope, for your sake, I'm wrong on this one!
 
What a rip-off. If I have to go & buy another aquarium I will definitely not buy a Waterhome (or I guess Eclipse) tank again! I mean, I used a SOFT toothbrush...
 
Agreed. Most hardware stores will sell plexi or plastic polishing kits. But it means emptying your aquarium and doing a thourough cleaning job afterwards.
 
What are people using to clean algae off their plastic tank walls that doesn't scratch them?
 
they sell these at Petsmart and mine works great, its has a plastic scraper on one end and a soft sponge on the other, they have some for glass and some for acrylic (i would reccommend the acrylic one for your plastic tank) and are inexpensive about 5 dollars or so
 
Thanks I'll check that out. I wonder how a plastic scraper could be softer than a soft toothbrush (which scratches)...
 
i would just reccommend using the sponge side of it
