What size tank? Do you have a light for the tank?

I would suggest buying something lowlight like Hornwort (a sprig of it can float in the tank and Bettas love floating plants) or an Anubias (they come in many varieties and thrive in any light). They are inexpensive and available in most LFS.

i bought these too, the betta bulbs...they took a while for me to sprout them in my shrimp tank and the tank is set up to be heavily planted with high intensity lighting...keep the receipt if you got the same one i did they say you can return them in 30 days if they do not sprout. Mine did, and look nothing like the picture on the box...just bury them in substrate and give them some time
