Hello, I recently bought 4 small Blue Acara's approx 2 inches long but I am not sure as they look like green terrors. All of them have a yellow tipped dorsal fin and yellow tipped tail. They also have a black blotch midway on each side of their body. Is there anyway of positively identifying them as Blue Acara's? Any help would be appreciated because I dont want them growing up in to green monsters!

If I am correct blue acaras dont have any color on thier caudal fin do they? If your fish have an orange or white color on the caudal fin then they very well could be Green Terrors.

Green Terror doesn't have stripes like Blue Acara. The scales are in horizontal with only one black spot on GT body.

Blue Acara caudal fin does have red/orange color, only tail doesn't. While GT caudal fin and tail have red/white/orange color.

My GT's color was very bright...brighter than Acara, and more colorful too.

See the picture below I found in some website.

caudal fin is the tail fin, blue acaras have the orange lining on thier dorsal fin. ;)

ooopsss...sorry...haha

I think I confused myself. :P

I really have to re-read my post before I post them.

I meant dorsal fin. *(&(*)*&&^#R^ Can't type today. :D

Thanx to all those who replied to my question, I am guessing that my fish are a cross between GT's and blue acaras as they seem to have the characteristics of both! I have 4 of them and they arent aggressive towards other fish, atleast for now. Hopefully it will stay that way!
