How do people like the stainless steel setups?

who in here owns one currently that can answer this guys questions as a owner?

I dont recall owning that exact setup being a requirement to answer the questions.

I've owned stainless steel before. I can also assure you Oceanic is probably one of if not the best commercially made tank. Very thick glass, nice, stable seams... No idea on their stands. I still say custom made stands are likely much stronger and safer because you can use whatever materials you want. As for commercial stands, I've owned very few and seen very few from different manufacturers in my area.

Though custom stands almost always void your warranty, as most tank manufacturers require you to use their stands.

Yip. It's a shame, but chances are the tank will last longer on a properly built custom anyway.

Indeed, I dont know about oceanic, but there are quite a few threads over on RC about all-glass stands falling apart.

BTW- all-glass owns oceanic (or is it the other way around?) with all-glass being the mainstream/midprice brand, and oceanic being the upscale product.

I dident say it owning that exact setup being a requirement to answer the questions. I just wanted to hear it from someone who has a stainless steel setup of any kind, and not just someone who has read some stuff on it or herd this and that, part of the reason is I want to hear it from the horses mouth also

What difference does it make wether its your fish tank or your refrigerator that is made of stainless steel? If it scratches easily and is a pain to maintain somewhere else, why wouldnt the aquarium be exactly the same?

I would understand your argument if it was about something specific to this stand, say the steel aquarium stands are weak or flimsy or something, but general care of stainless steel products is not item specific.

I saw the stainless steel stand in 42g last night. The whole front of the stand is basically just a metal thin wrapping and not even wood behind the metal. I don't know why they made it like this.

Then the hood and light that comes with the setup is ONLY a singe tube strip light. You would that that spending that much money they would put in a better light for you.

Man, I have never heard me described so well before. That is a great way to word my tendencies! :thud:
Me too!

Ok guys, hand over your heart and repeat the mens prayer after me:
I'm a man
I can change
If I have to
I guess. :)

I have a stainless steel microwave, refrigerator, stove, and coffee pot, as long as you take care of it ( just like hardwood floors which I also have) its never been a problem for, however different objects in your house get used more and less than other, some have direct contact with your hands and fingers which have oils on them, others (in your kitchen) have direct contact to extreme heat or cold knives and continues movement and use all day long of a refrigerator door ect ect. the Finnish of it could also make some difference. maybe it was silly but I am not trying to make any kind of "argument" I just wanted to hear from owners is all.
