How do you capture your water to test it?

Do you just put the test tubes in the water or do you use something else to suck up the water and put it into the tubes???

I have been dipping my risned out test tubes in the tank. BUT I hate doing it that way. What if I have lotion on my hands, what if there are chemical residues in the tubes.

Anyone have problems?

is there such a tool that will suck up the water from the tank and let me drip it into the tubes (like a small nose bulb - or should I just go buy a nose bulb???)

I dip the test tube in. I also have droppers but I tend to get them all used in fertilizers and stuff.

The dropper isn't a bad idea as it will probably save you time in getting the right amount of water in.
 
I'm a dental assistant, so I can get what is called a monoeject syringe, it holds about 15ml of water, about enough for 3 test tubes worth, if I fill it all the way.
It's typically used for irrigation during root canals. It really does the job well, who knows, if you ask your dentist, you might be able to get one for nothing!
 
i use a regular drinking straw. just dip the staw in the water, hold one of your fingers on top of the straw, pull the straw out and into the test tube, let go of your finger.

I just dip the test tubes in. If you are worried about stuff on your hands, you could always wash them first. I always rinse my tubes inside and out after every test and before I dip them in the water. No problems yet.
 
You can buy a lil test dripper thing from Hagen .. it came with my test kit so i use it all the time.

I use the same thing. I'm a vet tech and just took a few monoject syringes no needles in different sizes. and I use my largest (12cc or ml same thing) for test kits.

BRILLIANT!!!!! Wash your hands first and there will be no question... Rince tubes when finished... All excellent ideas... I dont see the point in the whole finger over the straw trick though... Dont they tell you NOT to cap the test tube with your thumb when shaking it? Then why would would you do it to pull water from the tank? It may give incorect readings...
