i was wondering how you do it?i got a bristlenose today and would like to feed him some veggies but i had a problem last time when i kept otos and they never came off the glass to eat and starved to death. So how can i add the veggie to the aquarium wall?i have heard of the veggie clip but how will he see it way up at the top whens he is at the bottom?

I think as they mostly feed at night sight is not too important. I feed mine lots of different veg. I just poke a fork in it an drop it to the bottom. With a bit of string attached its easy to retrieve.

Wedge the veggie with a spoon, lead weights or stone. I do that for my plecos. I have no problems feeding my plecos with anything else.:)

If you want to put it in easy reach but still on the glass, slide the suction cup down to the bottom. You can also soak the veggie in garlic essence to stimulate appetite, and make it easier to find. It make take more than two or three tries before they realize it's food.

i found a plastic potato clip and took off the hook from a suction cup and put it through the hole in the handle of the clip and it sits on the glass perfectly but he is on the other side and i don't think he notices its there.i will add garlic tomorrow and see what happens.if i add garlic won't that make my water smell?

:iagree: All my plecs love veggies now, but it took them several goes to recognise it as food. I feed mainly courgette (zucchini) as it's less messy and marginally more nutritious than cucumber, although my bristlenoses, clown plecs and sailfin plec eat flake, bloodworm, pellets etc. intended for other fish to supplement this. I use a screw (stainless steel is better so it doesn't rust) through a thinnish slice, and feed them this about twice a week.

I keep presliced zuke in the freezer for my fish. To feed I nuke it in the microwave on the defrost setting. Every oven is different so you need to learn what amount of time works with yours. After nuking I immerse the slices in a big cup of cold running water. The goal is to be sure it will sink when cooled off (rem hot things rise). Any slices that don't sink get a few more seconds in the nuker til they do.

Another great food for them are canned green beans. Look for a brand that says No Added Salt. Just rinse them and split em down the center and remove the seeds and drop them into the tank- they will sink.

I have also fed sliced steamed yams left over from my vegetarian brother's dinner. He leaves the skin on when cooking it- they didnt eat the skin but it jelped hold things together. You will have to remove the skin the next day.

Since it's an ancistrus i would try to keep the food near the ground for the first few days if he's newly established, since my ancistrus likes to crawl on the ground rather than swim.If you have wood and you attach the food to it he will eventually find it at night

Try zucchini and leave it in,try keeping away from the aquarium because my l001 swims away when you look at him.Did you take the skin off?And was he eating at night? You said you've got him yesterday, my ancistrus took a bit of time to learn that zucchini was food,he only ate a few flakes that fell to the ground
