How do you keep the cat off the tank?!

same can be said of the ragdolls...

they love water

I <3 rag dolls. We think ours is part Turkish Van, aka swimming cat. He looks like one, and has many of their characteristics.

Mine is on the tanks all the time. For my 55g with the open top, she is very careful, but she does like to drink out of it. It's funny, when she's on there all the fish stay in the lower half of the tank.

tinfoil works pretty well....once he gets the hint that it's up there, he will move on to other things. Place a couple sheets in full over the tank, not necessarily flat on the light and hood (you'll need to keep the hood vents ventilated).

Take the lid off! Never saw our cat move so fast! Now she just gives it a dirty look as she passes by it.

(I was thinking of shooting her but then I would have had to shoot the wife too)j/k!

the only real problem with having the lid off is ur cat may not be able to get back out of the tank... In any case thats the easiest and most successful way to do it.

Yup, that's what I did with Sophie. I had a mess to clean up the first time she went in the 30g, but she hasn't jumped up on it since.

Tin Foil

They hate to walk on it , just lay it across the top
They also make a thing called a scat mat

spray bottle with a little vinegar in it

I have had wonderful luck with mouse traps. People laugh when come over but I have the trigger set so that if theres a strong vibration on the lid the snap without getting a paw or a tail.
