How do you like the MAG FLOAT?

I wish I had never ever bought one! Was cleaning the glass one day and went too low - picked up some sand between the glass and the float - needless to say it put a pretty good sized scratch on the front of the tank. I guess thats something you just have to do once....

They're ok, not the best thing since sliced bread, they don't really pick up all the algae off the glass nomatter how much you try and scrub. I like the old green sponge and getting your hands wet method better, at least it's more effective than a magfloat.

I personally love it. I have one for my 100G acrylic and the only problem I have is that it scares my stupid 9.5'' tinfoils! It works flawlessly, but I don't use it because it leaves less algae for my pleco. I love mine.

The Magfloat worked well for me initially when my tank glass had a thin layer of green algae, but when I let the layer grow a bit thicker, I found I had to go over with the Magfloat more than once and it takes too long. Moral of the story, clean the glass regulary and it'll work for you!

I was resistant for years, thinking it was ridiculous to spend that much money on it. I finally broke down a few months ago and bought one from DFS.

Talk about luxury. It's so nice to be able to do a few swipes with it, wipe off any algae, and be done...without getting wet, without having to wash my hands, and without getting annoyed having to reach into my tank and scrub around.

Since then I've acquired two more with different craigslist tank purchases.

I like mine. But I tend to let the algae build up so it takes a couple passes to clean it and then sometimes I have to concentrate on a specific area if its a little more over grown. Nothing a sponge couldn't do though. Its just another option.
