how do you make french toast??

My family makes it about like snoopy's recipe, but with about 1/4 cup granulated sugar and a tiny pinch of nutmeg in the mix. If you like it firmer you can stick the bread in a toaster before you dip it and fry it.

If dozens of people have followed the recipe and liked it then it can't be all bad.

Heheh, try looking up vegetarian recipes on there. The highest rated stuff I wouldn't want to make my dog eat even as punishment.

Snoopy makes it the same way that I do. The ingredients are the important thing. The amounts of each, customize to your taste. Hey prolude, were both a little biased in that department, with me being in N.E. WI. We both have to agree though that homemade syrup from any northern state tops anything that you can buy in the stores.:thm:

Which is probably good because dogs are not vegetarian. ;)

Seriously though, I've not tried making vegetarian dishes from allrecipe.com but I've had nothing but success with recipes I've tried from them. I only use the ones that have 4 or 5 star ratings and a lot of user reviews/comments... If a dish has 1 comment and 1 5-star rating I don't give it much credence though- because it's easy to get one person to like a dish.

I do read the comments too though- often if there is a problem with the dish- how to solve it is listed there and pops up multiple times from multiplpe people.

The best bread to use is a nice crusty old style bread; slice it to the desired thickness and dip it in a mixture of egg, milk, a dash of nutmeg and vanilla. Fry in a greased pan, browning both sides.......The good bread is key......

Cam- don't worry about not knowing how to make French Toast. I can cook just about anything fairly well ( at least according to the tasters :)) and I cannot make French Toast to save my life. It's become a family joke. Maybe good F.T. is not as easy as it sounds... or I'm just incredibly "toast challenged."
