How do you make your footprint lighter?

The thing about global warming is most think it means the entire Earth is climbing in temp everywhere. This is untrue as the Earth tries to balance itself. While certain areas have warmer then normal temps someplace else is going to have colder then normal temps. Global warming causes extreme weather pattern changes.

Arid places become wetter and temperate places drier. To much rain in the plains flooding crops. Not enough rain in other areas turning them into deserts.

Even when the Earth was in the Ice Age the entire Earth wasn't frozen. There will always be places people can live and grow food. We'll just have to migrate and adjust for the changes.

Also most think the Ice Age was caused by an asteroid or comet slamming in to the Earth kicking up a ton of dust that was able to block the sun. After Krakatoa blew up there was a mini ice age from all the volcanic dust thrown into the air. Past Ice Ages can't be blamed on pollution but on the number of volcanic eruptions that used to plague the world as it was growing.

Sorry Easy about the way the thread went but its actually a good way to inform both sides of the theory. As long as people stay civil. To many people just believe what they hear on the news or from others. They don't bother looking up multiple sources.

IMO I can't discuss my opinions without A:Being out right flamed for being intolerent, or some sort of idiot or B: Post deleted/edited.

This thread should be locked because it enters too close into the realm of politics.

"Climate Change" is just another liberal scam to try and allow the government to get more power and freedoms over individuals by claiming its "for the greater good" by telling me what light bulbs I can use, when and where and what kind of car I can drive, when I can use my lights.... all in the name of environmental religion, who are no better than PETA. Al Gore himself is proclaiming this whole thing as truth, and how we have to do something now, yet his house uses more electricity than 25 normal American houses. John Travolta demands action, yet owns and operates his own private Boeing 707, which puts out a whole lot more "emissions" than a fully loaded 777, or 747-400. Add to the fact the whole thing is still unproven, to pretend we know about "climate change" when we cant even acuratly predict the weather 7 days from now is absurd.

This thread should be closed before the flaming gets out of hand. Any more conversations on this topic should be moved to either PMs or another forum. This may be the GCC, but it is still Aquaria Central, and as such, members should refrain from posting political topics, including "climate change"

umm.. sorry. this wasnt my intention for the thread.. but if it needs to be closed, then so be it.
i hate politics, i only follow them for certain reasons. my concern for the earths state has nothing to do with politics, though it may because of all the advertising and campaigns or whatever i see for going green and what not.
ive come to the conclusion that anybody who thinks they know for sure which way the earth is going, what is going to happen, how the earth will "end" is absurd. nobody knows, nobody knows how long this earth has been here and what inhabited it before us and all the possible/unknown previous climate changes. nobody knows if we are really having an effect on what the earth is already doing.
i just know that i dont like how the whole earth is.. humanized? and that animals are coming and going according to us. i just dont like all the pollution, or the idea of landfills and everything.
i think that recycling and using energy efficient bulbs and converting what machinery we can to be more environmentally friendly and less damaging to the ecosystem is harmless, and would only be for the better.

Since glass is easiest to recycle, I am sure to buy beer only in glass bottles!

When I save up about $10, 000, I'll buy some solar panels, or a wind turbine...
but since gas for my 4x4 is $3.50 per gallon, its gonna be a while!

I totally agree, but disagree on closing the thread since this affects everyones' bank account.

Al Gores movie is a scare tactic and the media pushes it down our throats. The USA and Canada happen to be "cleaner" and more environmentally sensitive than most other civilized countries in our world. I'd love to see Mr. Gore push his agenda and carbon footprint thing in China where pollution is way out of control. He wouldn't last a week... Be assured, that there is "big money" to be made with "pollution taxes".

If you think the economy is bad and getting worse, and gas prices are out of control, wait and see how bad things will get for when we are taxed even more all in the name "climate control".

This whole issue is not politics, but a people issue.
More and more legitimate scientific studies are proving that Al Gore is wrong.

A simple fact to also consider is when you have Mars heating up some,
along with the Earth heating a bit, you have to re-think Al's buzz phrase "carbon footprint."

So far this thread has been going well. No personal flaming, and we're talking about the issue.

I'll keep it open, cause a good discussion is always healthy and entertaining.

If anyone's personally offended by the political aspect of it, let a mod know and we'll lock it up. For now, I do find it very informative that we're able to see both sides to this discussion without it getting out of control. . .

As for my opinion, I'm not a big fan of Al Gore, and I don't agree with his tactics.

i like debates and all, and support the need to go green but seriously this thread i don't think will change anybody's minds and and everybodys already stated their oppinions. it will never end.

as for the original question i heard somewhere that you can glaze your windows with something to not let out as much heat.

one thing i forgot is that saving energy saves you money.

I think the thread has been going well. Though a bit off the OPs posted topic...it shows us how the initial question was seen as by many members.

Just a thought...the soon to be mandatory (in the US) light bulbs, that make the current standard incadescent illegal, contains mercury and requires special waste handling. Good deal eh?

What have I done?
I own two Toyota Prius
I Use Flouresent bulbs for all lighting
I use biodegradeable cleaning detergents
I just had a rinnai installed, that's the tankless hot water system for those of you who didn't know.
UMMM, think that's it.
