We have several in the immediate vicinity, but it seems with the arrival of Petsmart (Ours is GREAT by the way) the LFS's have decided to let their fish go. I have been astounded at the decline in the previously pristine tanks and wide variety.

So...now I drive about 45 minutes to a pretty good, but not great, shop when I need fish. I use local Petsmart for hardware and such.

The two that I like to shop at are Elmers Aquariums in Monroville, PA which is about 85 miles away, and That Pet Place near Lancaster, PA which is about 150 miles.

Needless to say, I don't make it to either more than a couple times a year tops.

Well, Petco/smart are each less than 2 miles from me. In fact, there are 3 petcos and 3 petsmart within 10 miles of me. But you said "...to buy fish." So that leaves these out. I routinely drive an hour or so to visit 2 or 3 different lfs. I drove 3 1/2 hours each way to pick up some L046s. So like Rachel said, if it's within a days drive R/T, I'd make the road trip. Good luck.

I regularly drive probably about 25-30 miles for any pet stores. All I have available in my town is Wal-mart.

i should find a way to ask the locals, i think your all bias :) :)
I have to drive an hour to get to Petsmart! I'd gladly drive that to get quality fish. I was you about 12 years ago. I opened a small shop in my garage, but I couldn't get enough business so I had to close it 3 years later.:shakehead: Hope you have better luck!
