How high is safe?

I'm setting up an old iron 30 inch stand that's ~4inch from the floor to the bottom shelf. The other I have is on 8 inch cinder block & syphoning is ok, not great but the substrate is very fine (Flourite sand).

I'm a bit concerned about top-heaviness & instability if I boost it much higher than 8 in or so for stacked tanks 10 or 20g on the bottom & 20 or 29 on top.

How high is safe but easier to syphon?

If it's made for the tank, it should be fine. a tank on the lower part should help stabilize too. As far as syphoning...run a longer hose out a door or lower somewhere.

You always have the option to anchor the stand to the wall studs...

My husband is not fond of my DIY projects :crazy:. Bob, how would you suggest attaching the stand to the wall with room for HOBs (curly iron style stands)?

ok it might be a little pricey but there are racks you can put 3-4 tanks on at lowes for $55ish
