How important is it to maintain the proper levels of "good" Iron for plants in the Aquarium??? I have a test kit and its basicaly at ZERO% that's both good and bad Iron lvl's.

I rarely ever does Fe. Everytime I do---I get algae (but according to Mr. Barr I should not--???). Red plants need it more (so I have heard). I do not dose it directly into the tank---I use iron plant tabs instead.

Thank you for the reply! I have a liquid that I use from time to time but I have never seen anything like that? I have a test kit but never find any present. That's why I ask.

from what i understand its only needed for red plants, i never use any myself but that dont mean i'm right

Iron is used to create chlorophylls, which acts as the plant's "solar panels" and gives the plant it's color. I'd assume that's also why it's probably more important to red plants than green ones.
