I picked up some mystery snails yesterday at a LFS. I brought them home acclimated them and then put them in the tank. One of them immediately came out of its shell and went of foraging. The other hasn't moved sine it was put in the tank. I see no evidence of life. How long should I wait before I pronounce it dead and take it out of the tank?

some times it can take a while for the snail to come outa its shell in a new enviroment like a few days, just hang in there.
if ou start to worry a sure way to tell is to take the snail out and smell it, they realy pong when dead.

I agree, i have snails that go inactive for days. If its dead, it will have a very very potent dead fish smell.

potent is a cruel understatment....

pungent, overpowering, knock you on your butt is more like it.

prepare to gag if you do smell it. lol
