how long can bristlenose live for when heater bulb is off

hi, all

i done water change yest i had 2 bristlenoses when i woke up in the morin they were dead
all other fish were all arite then i noticed i forgot to plug in the heater bulb back on
it was off for 24 hrs till i noticed it first time i ever done this

so question is how can bristlenose last for without heater on
it was stupid mistake couldnt believe what i done

It really depends on the water temp.

If the temp drastically changes very quickly, I wouldn't think most tropical fish would last more than a few hours at most.
If it's a slower drop, then they should last longer (1 day or so).

How often are you doing water changes on your tank?

24 hours is a good enough amount of time to kill just about any fish if the temp drops enough sorry to hear of your loss!

Just curious, what are the other fish? I would expect a pleco to be a more hardy than most fish. How big of a tank? Is the room real cold?

how much difference in temperature was the water you added to the tank, compared to the water in the tank before the change?
