How long can fish go without eating?

Usually, after a week or fortnight I come back to a very healthy tank, what with not feeding them for this period. Does 'em good.

One of my goldfish went 1 month without eating when I couldn't find him in december.

I've had angels go for weeks(7-8) when ill with internal parasites.

I had someone feed my 2 tanks once when I left for over a month. They didn't think anything was in the 1 so it never got the light turned on or fed.

The Common Pleco, Catfish, and Jaguar Cichlid were all still alive when I arrived home, obviously very hungry but they made it despite my fish sitters negligence. They lived for years after as well with no ill effects.

-Not suggesting anyone not feed for a month, just sharing is all.

Those stories are crazy! Who would have thought that fish can go that long without food. Almost makes me think that feeding every other day might be a good idea. You seem to have less problems.
