How much skimmate is your cup producing mate? I have also read about people using things like slimecoat in a sw tank that made their skimmer go nuts.. I'm guessing as long as you are on top of it, it will cease in a day.. If you can turn your skimmer to a wetter setting (thinner skimmate) it should pull it out quicker.
