Well, Prime works by having molecules that bond to Ammonia and Chlorine molecules found in tap water. The chemical molecules in Prime can break apart Chloramines into the base Chlorine and Ammonia molecules in a way where the Ammonia and Chlorine are no longer harmful to fish, but the Ammonia is still available for plants and bacteria to turn into Nitrite.
I think there are two main questions: A) How long can the Prime chemicals retain their bonding properties in an unconcentrated water solution? and B) How long will the chemicals in Prime STAY bound to chlorine and ammonia in a closed container?
I know people have made auto-topoff units that auto-dose Prime, but in order to do so needed to dilute the prime down about 1:10 or 1:50 in order to not excessively overdose. I believe they used distilled water to dilute it though. My biggest thought here is: Does Prime evaporate out of the water (like Chlorine does, and why for tap water that is just Chlorine-treated you can age it 24-48 hours and be fine) or will it stay in the water till it's found something to bind with?
It's an interesting question, with several facts needed. Personally I think the company that makes Prime would be the best source of information at this point.
