How long does prime stay available in the water?

i dont do top offs just water changes. could always pre treat water.

How do you dose prime for top offs? The whole tank volume or just how much water you added?

I always dose tank volume. But :huh:
I use a quality De-Chlor for top offs. Prime is reserved for PWC

Ive only ever done 1 top off and it was on my 60 and I dosed for 50.....

Worked ok for me.

I use a 1 gallon pitcher for top offs. I just add a couple of drops of Prime to the new water before I add it to the tank.

yea, this was basically concerning top offs, I am just going to use a gallon jug and dose 2 drops in the jug.

2drops in 1gal is about the same as 5ml in 50gal

but chloramine won't gas off

it won't, but prime will break the bond between the chlorine and ammonia molecules that make up chloramine. once separated and neutralized, the ammonia will be processed by the biofilter and the chlorine will go away.
