Alright, I've been trying to keep dwarf puffers for a while, but keep having issues with internal parasites. I had 2 originally and lost them. I got 3 more about 3 months ago. Maybe longer. I only did one treatment of the jungle tabs IP treatment when i first got them. They looked fine. Had big round bellies. Then i went on vacation for a week and 1/2 about a month ago, my sister was feeding them pre-measured portions while I was gone. When i got back they were really skinny. They were still eating so i started treating again right away, but as of 2 days ago I lost the last one. Is it possible for them to contract IP without the addition of new fish? Or is it that I just never got rid of them completely and it took this long for visible signs of the parasites? I want to get more cause I really love them, but not until I am better prepared to deal with the IP.

dp have to ingest the ip meds or it wont work with just bathing them in it, as stated on package
if they eat frozen blood worms thawed, take some out put on paper towel and dry them good and make a stronger solution of med and soad the worms in it over nigh and see if the eat them,..if it so far along that they wont eat then not much can be done,,
always treat for ip in d puffers as soon as you get them before they get ill,. most always they have them,,..

hope its not too late,.

got this out of dwarf puffer forum,, as was a member there for years but no longer have dp's

Gel Tek works ok, but not as described on the packaging. Same with the jungle labs tabs. Gel Tek is great to soak foods in(I recommend overnight in the fridge) while simultaniously treating the water with the jungle tabs, though I've had little trouble with just the jungle tabs working the way I use them. I treat the tank with the recommended number of tabs for the tank volume, then 48 hours later, do a 75% water change, and treat again. Then 48 hours after that, another 75% water change, and another treatment. At least 3, and I've done up to 6 for stubborn IPs.

thanks for the excerpt dixienut. That is actually the exact post I used to treat with the jungle tabs. I couldn't find the Gel Tek around me, but if/when i get anymore I'm definitely gonna treat with the tabs at least 3 times. I'll have to look into ordering the Gel Tek online too.

i've used geltek many times and had a great result with all my fish and the antibotics as well they are great,..i got mine as petco they carried the whole line,.. perhaps try there
