Wow I havent posted in a while, things have been going well, knock on wood. Well, my question is simple I think, how long should i leave seaweed on a clip for my yellow tang? My lfs says for 24 hrs everyday. When i got hom ei realized that that meant seaweed in the tank at all times. Any ideas would be helpful thanks.

Some people hang a piece daily in the morning. Some people replace it whenever they see it is gone. No one right way. I usually add some in the morning. If it is gone I add another when I get home from Work. You kinda have to let your tank and fish tell you.

Also if you aren't growing a reef ," maybe if you are and don't mind pruning", you could put a handfull of calupera in your tank. The Tangs could then eat at will and you would garner a couple of additional benifits. The algae would reduce nitrates in your water and give pods and micro fauna a place to hide/reproduce. IME if you don't have too high of a nutrient load it won't become too invasive especially if you have enough herbivors to keep it well trimmed. You would have to keep an eye on it though because if you don't have enough herbivores and it really starts to overgrow it will go into a reproductive stage and turn your tank kelly green and probably take our a lot of your critters.
