I have a new 10 gallon tank, just getting started. It is a community tank with a Rasbora, Danio and Cory. My question is how long to leave the light on? All day, as would be in nature, or less?

Thanks

Larry

Do you have any live plants? If so you would leave it on longer than if you had fish only. It is really your preferance but I leave mine on about 9 or so hours. Just so you know, all of those fish are schooling fish. If you are cycling then wait to get any more fish until your cycle is complete. Good luck!

If you have no live plants then only turn lights on for viewing.

I think most fish appreciate a regular day/night cycle. I usually just turn my lights on when I get up in the morning and off when I go to bed...No set number of hours or anything.

Mine come on at 8:30, off at midnight (on a timer). Moonlights on 29 gallon come on at 12:05am, off at 6.

Still need to wire up the leds for the 10 gallon!

just be sure the lights are fluorescent and not incandescent before you leave the lights on for an extended period of time...alot of 10 gallon aquarium hoods and tank kits come with incandescent bulbs
