Hi there Aquarium people  I'm slowly re-stocking my new 6'Lx2'Wx27"D after ten years out of this great hobby because of a total loss when the stand collapsed on my previous 6'x2'x2' everything was lost, tank, fish everything ... plus my interest in this hobby was crushed
Anyway I'm happy to say that I'm back YeeHaa :dance
I love south American Cichlids & a question I'd like to know is how old will my 6 month old Geophagus Steindachneri (Nearly 4") be before the males get his hump starting to show??? Any info you can give me I'd truly appreciate.

Hi, I have a Cichlasoma festae, he's about ten months now almost 5 1'2 inches and his hump started showing about a month month1/2 ago. Its south american as well. Hopefully this helps some.

Hi Hally,
I would be interested to know what your stocking your 6' with as Im currently stocking my new 6ft tank with Central and South American cichlids too.

Thanks for all your help the site was great too ;) ... Cat I'm only starting as I said this is stage 2 haha after a ten year break & so far I have 2 Geophagus Surinamensis, 3 Geophagus Steindachneri, a m+f Bristle nose, 8 different Corydoras I'm a sucker for all of the Cory's, a huge Plecostumus 14", 2 Salmon Catfish & 2 Pictus Catfish, 5 good sized Clown Loach (4") oh & I nearly forgot my 3 small Cyphotilapia Frontosa (3") (wife loves em so much)... I know theyre african from Lake Tanganyika but I'll see what happens ... I don't have a high alkaline pH. My tank has a few medium to large golden yellow to redish colour rocks & a big log with vals & a couple of other plants I done all this in the last 2 months & I can notice the growth rate even in this short time... I love this hobby :dance .
