How Long...

WELCOME!!!!

How long you had the tank? By "established" I'm assuming you mean "cycled"....this process can take anywhere from a month (3 wks if you're lucky) with a "fishless" cycle and up to a couple months for a "fishy" cycle.

Since you didn't mention cycling, I'm going to assume you didn't do a fishless cycle, i.e., put ammonia in the water, measure your water parameters carefully, wait for a nitrite spike and a bacterial bloom, etc. before you added your fish. That leaves fishy cycling, which you're probably halfway through or so...

The "sticky-d" post about cycling might help you a bit....figure out what your tank is doing at the moment and go from there...each of the benchmarks (ammonia spike, nitrite spike, cloudy water) take about a week or two each to happen....

Also, those fantails are going to get a little big for your tank (by about 20 gallons apiece....their full size is close to 10" or so....maybe longer if you have great conditions for them...). Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Get out your test kit (or run out and buy one if you've not gotten that far yet), and give us some numbers. I can give you a rough estimate from that....

Good luck!

P.S. Fantails are a pretty good choice for fishy cycling, because they are pretty tough, but don't be too heartbroken if you lose a few....
