I'm converting my 20g high FW tank to a semi-planted brackish tank. It's currently housing some baby platies and guppies.
What I'm wanting to know is... how many Bumble Bee gobies can I put in there? The only other fish would be the livebearers.

I had 12 in my 20g at one point.

Are BBGs the only reason you're turning the tank brackish? You could just keep them in freshwater.

An even dozen was what I was thinking too.
And, yes, I know that I could keep them in FW, but I've heard they do better in Brackish water... and I want to try my hand at a brackish tank.

They do equally well in either freshwater or brackish, though the latter might offer an advantage since it can fight off certain parasites and helps buffer the water. Under the right care though, it simply doesn't matter. Be sure to have frozen/live food and lots of little territories for them.

Oh, and be sure to acclimate the platies.

Only 2. And that would be too tiny to house bumble bee gobies. You actually need a 3,910,288,958,740,000,000 gallon tank just for one.

Yes, the platies need to be acclimated much more carefully.

Most stores should carry them. I believe Petco even carries them, or at least they did at one point. We have a bunch of stores that carry them here. I have 2 in a 40g but not many hiding places for them as the tank is really for the Anableps, but they do great. Good luck with them, I think it would be adorable to see 12 of them together!

I remeber when Petco used to carry them. But as soon as I started getting interested in them, Petco stopped carrying them. Why does that always happen?
I think I'm gonna see if any of the LFS around me will order them
