I have a 55g tank in the works and im wondering how many and of what kind can I place in it. The only twist I have is I will need to put my albino rainbow shark in it because he will get to big for his current home. Also any input on filtering devices im ok with the standard bio mechanical but what about wet/dry I don’t know much about those.

What sort? Central American? South American? Dwarf? Large? Medium? African Riverine? African Rift Lake?

I also was wondering what type you're planning on... there are a few (rainbow cichlids and blood parrot cichlids for example) that would probably get along fine w/ the shark but many more (most) types of cichlids would not be a good mix for your shark.

For filtering, I'm sure others will have valuable insight. What I'm using on a 75g mbuna tank is 2x Penguin 350's and a Rena XP3. Happy with the combination.

Ok wow didn’t know there were that many types I guess I don’t know up for any ideas. But it does sound like im limited. I have to move the rainbow shark to the 55 so are there any cichlids that would be ok im my current 38 gal if that’s all I but in it. by the way i like the Bolivian Rams

You could do a colony of bolivians and that should work with your rainbow shark. Other SA dwarfs would work as well. Fill out the rest of the tank with a couple of schools of tetras. I'd heavily plant the tank too.
