how many corys

I have 3 sterbai cory in my 120 48x24x24. I did have 4 but one died. He never came out from the plants to eat. I think he never adjusted. The other three scavenge the tank well. I want to get possibly 3 more, but I have to wait. They are the most beautiful that I have seen.....Aquak I went to that link in your reply. It didnt say how many could go in the tank size. Just the minimum tank size.

For cory cats, and many other fish, the recommended load is 1 inch per gallon of water. The minimum tank size just gives you the amount of room they need. So, if you have room for more inches of fish, you can get more cory cats. It is also recommended that you keep a sort of balance between bottom, middle, and top swimming fish. If you tell me what other fish you have in there, I can help you determine how many you still have room for (if any).

That's why it's necessary to combine that aspect with the minimum size tank, as I said above. I also said "many" fish and offered to help him if he gave me specifics. Angelfish, for instance, need 10 gallons each, even though they aren't likely to grow over 6" in the home aquarium and they tend to grow slowly after they reach around 3 inches. The recommended minimum tank size is 30 gallons, which IMO is not enough for most angels, especially after they get over 3" SL, and I wouldn't recommend more than 2 in a tank that size. It makes me sad to see the "lol" comment about the corydoras running into each other because they are in too small a tank. Nothing "dangerous" about helping a new aquarist find his way with someone right there to help sort it all out. That's what these sites are for. In cases where the one inch rule doesn't work, it isn't because it's OK to have MORE inches/gallon, as some cory keepers on this thread seem to think. (When someone is careful enough to ask, I doubt they are going to run out and buy a 15 inch fish for a 20 gallon tank!)

Well I am not new to the hobby. 6 years ago I was fully engulfed in this hobby. Then I joined the military. I used to have 4 55's, 29, 4 10's, and a 30 gal tub for feeders. Plus I worked at the LFS. HOWEVER I am RUSTY. I currently purchased a 120 acrylic tank. with a blue line pump. 900 gal/hr. it is running at approximately 1/3 that now. I have to replumb the tank. I am going to put a pvc bar out the over heads to dispearse the water flow. If I let the pump run all out like I want then the current is way to strong. I DO NEED HELP THOUGH! Like I said I am rusty. Currently I have 3 sterbi cory, 2 misc. rainbows(think praex or something like that), 6 boesmani rainbows(sorry for spelling), 2 white clouds(did have 10 but 8 went throught the overflow. most of the time survived and put back in tank, but eventually 8 died) 10 tetra's(didnt say what kind at LFS, I believe them to be lemon tetra's), today I just got 10 platty's(wife's little idea). In about two weeks plan to get 6 german blue blushers, 2 gold nugget pleco(hopfully more in future), and 3 more sterbi cory cats(AQUAK this is were I need your HELP) or anyone elses who knows what they are talking about. Plus with the other fish is it a good mix or not. I am going to redo the plumbing because I need to increase my filtration ratio and two the current is two strong for me to get angels. I have 2 300 watt heaters in wet side of filter in the stand. bio balls and a tall canister filter. carbon is in between my prefilter pads. any suggestions on this system will be greatley appreciated. lighting is a 36" compact light from coralife. It has two 96 watt bulbs and two moon LED 3/4 what each...
